Australia is a product of a unique blend of established traditions and cultures. In 1945, Australia’s population was around 7 million people and since then, 6.5 million migrants including hundreds refugees, have settled in Australia.

Today Australia has a population of more than 21 million people and more than 43% of Australians were born overseas or have one parent who was born overseas. Many of the people who have come to Australia since 1945 were motivated by a commitment to a family, or a desire to escape poverty, war or persecution.

Australian are very friendly and helpful people with a great of sense of humour. The majority people in Australia live in a coastal because of “the Outback” condition which can be very arid area with many deserts and lack of water. Australians are very passionate about sporting, includes cricket, rugby, fishing and many else. Beach is also a very popular destination for people in Australia on weekends as much as going to the Shopping Centre or doing sport activities.

Australia is quite rated with the highest rate of skin cancer in the world because of the thinning of the Ozone layer. So do mind to take hats or sun block lotion when you go to the beach or open area for a long time.

Australian loves Australia and very proud of having clean and beautiful land. So preservation of the environment is very important in Australia. Australian do care about work-life balance and believes the term “work hard play hard”. They respect their time with the family. Some people from overseas misunderstand to see that Australian lifestyle is pretty laid back which actually a matter of the respect of the time with the family and balance between work and life.

The defining feature of today’s Australia is not only the cultural diversity of its people, but the extent to which they’re united by an overriding and unifying commitment to Australia. At the same time, everyone in Australia is expected to uphold the principles and shared values that support Australia’s way of life.

  • A spirit of egalitarianism that embraces tolerance, mutual respect and compassion for those in need. Australia also holds firmly to the belief that no one should be disadvantaged on the basis of their country of birth, cultural heritage, language, gender or religious belief
