Sydney commuters are facing a 5.4 % increase in bus and train tickets after holiday season this year, 2012. The fare increases are the first rise in public transport costs since April 2010.

The increases apply on the CityRail network, which covers Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter, Illawarra and Blue Mountains regions.

Weekly rail ticket will increase by up to $3, whilst a single ticket on the busses will go up by 10 to 20 cents.
