Sydney activities – Cycling

05 May

Cycling is an economical and environmentally friendly to navigate the city. You can find some of the best bikes routes that will show you fabolous harbour views, give you a glimpse of the Opera House, the Botanical Garden and Hyde Park.

You must by law wear a helmet at all times when cycling in Sydney. Do not ride on the footpaths unless there is signage indicating that you are able to do so. Please be wary of traffic and give way to pedestrians. Unexperienced cyclist are not recommended to cycling on Sydney roads as it’s dangerous as most cars travelling at minimum 60 km/hour and sometimes 80 km/hour depend on the location.

As bicycle helmets required by law, so are lights and reflectors when you cycling at night.

Centennial Park is one of the best cycle track for your family, where you can do this activity with your family.

Sydney accomodation

03 Feb

Sydney is one of the most expensive cities to live in the world. So it could be tricky if you as an individual or as family who is looking for accomodation in Sydney. Here is the overall picture of Sydney’s areas which you should know beforehand before you made decision about where you want to live here.

Sydney area is divided unto 5 major ones:

  • North area or usually Sydneysiders called North Shore
  • West area which can be divided as South West and North West
  • South area or known as Illawarra and Southern area
  • East area
  • Sydney CBD or city/downtown area

Sydney CBD is quite obvious that fall into a category of the most expensive area to live in Sydney. The rental price range from AUD 400-500 / week for 1 or 2 bedroom apartment onward, depending on which part of Sydney CBD you want to live at.

Live in the Sydney CBD could offer you many things (shop, cinema, supermarket, restaurant, fast food) or even one step away from the famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

If you hate the crowd or you want to live not to far from Sydney CBD then North Shore would be a good option to have. North Shore area is rank 2nd of the most expensive place to live in Sydney. It’s about the same starting price as Sydney CBD if you want to rent 1 or 2 bedroom apartment.

Once again it’s depend of what kind of lifestyle you’re after as you can find sort of different type of building here in Sydney, from the brand new apartment up to 10-15 years old building. The newer the better and of course more you have grab from your pocket.

North Shore is famous of the greenery such as trees. However if you like to live closeby beach or sea area, then East would be your next option. East area could offer you more into beach kind of lifestyle, where it’s about up to 10-15 minutes driving to the beach, depending of how far you live around East area. The price is slightly cheaper than Sydney CBD and North Shore area. It’s close to the airport and university such as UNSW (University of New South Wales).

The last option would be to live around Southern and Western areas and most of middle class people lives around those areas. Some areas around Southern and Western have been developed well in the past and it affecting the rental price around those areas such as Hurstville, Parramatta, Kogarah, Strathfield, West Ryde and so on. However generally they’re more cheaper than other areas mentioned before (Sydney CBD, North Shore and East).

It’s common thing to have the rental price gone up when they’re closeby public transportation such as train station as most people in Sydney travelling using public transportation. It’s currently the cheapest option to travel in Sydney.

There are many terms for type of accommodation building in Sydney. They are apartment, house, townhouse, granny flat, studio, duplex, penthouse and so on. I will discuss those separately in order to avoid any complexity.

It’s a common practice also in here for people search propety via online. There are only two big websites you can use to find your accommodation in Sydney. When I mentioned only two websites, actually there are also plenty of online wesite offers similar service. However according for my personal experience, I’d recommend you to go to these two website instead as they’re usually pretty reliable. You can book an appointment with the agent to inspect the place online or get the agent’s number from the website as well. They’re also provides you with the online map (Google Map) embedded unto their advertisement.
